This course provides comprehensive theoretical and practical training for scaffolders working with tube and fitting scaffolds. The programme begins with centre induction and completion of training terms and conditions, followed by essential health and safety and mental awareness training, including a half-day fall prevention module in accordance with SG4 guidance. Delegates will gain an understanding of key performance standards, including BS EN 12811 and TG20, alongside the management of temporary works to BS 5975.
Extensive hands-on training covers the erection, alteration, and inspection of a wide range of scaffold structures, including basic independent tied scaffolds, bridging using prefabricated beams, protection fans, truss-out scaffolds, pavement gantries, loading bays, roof saddle scaffolds, splay (circular or radial) scaffolds, and edge protection systems. The course also includes TG4 tie testing, basic scaffold inspection, mobile aluminium tower training for scaffolders (MATS), and carrying out alterations such as removing standards from existing structures. Learning is assessed through a 50-question theory test, supported by a 25-question mock test at the end of the first week, and a final practical assessment to confirm competence.
